In Kibera, 43% of girls are out of school, compared to 29% of boys. Your support is providing a world-class education to girls who are dreaming of a better life for themselves and their families; high-quality healthcare that is saving the lives of mothers and their children; programs that are eradicating gender violence by promoting the value of women and girls throughout the community—and so much more. Your involvement makes this continued impact possible. Your contributions will provide education and opportunity that will change the future of the girls in Kibera. All of ticket proceeds go straight to SHOFCO thanks to the generosity of a few corporate donors covering the cost of the event. Thank you to our fantastic sponsors: Newman’s Own Foundation, IBM, the BOSCO, Buttermilk Bakeshop, Fatty Sundays, and Brooklyn Cupcake.

Jessica Posner and Kennedy Odede, the founders of SHOFCO and the Kibera School for Girls, co-authored a book, Find Me Unafraid: Love, Loss and Hope in an African Slum and it is being launched on October 13th! Find Me Unafraid tells the unlikely love story between two uncommon people, from completely different worlds: Kennedy from Kibera and Jessica from Denver, Colorado. Their collaboration sparked a successful movement to transform the lives of vulnerable girls and the urban poor. If you are interested in learning more about the SHOFCO story, order your copy today
